About Acupuncture

Acupuncture originates from the Eastern Medical System. It is a safe form of treatment that treats a variety of conditions. Registered Acupuncturists are trained to identify the pattern of imbalance that is causing disease or pathologies and select appropriate points on the body to treat those conditions. Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, & Massage Therapists are also able to incorporate needling into their practice – this is referred to as contemporary acupuncture or dry needling.

Traditional Acupuncture Vs. Dry Needling

Dry needling is a form of Acupuncture and can be done by Acupuncturists, RMTs, Physios or Chiros. This style of acu targets & treats muscular dysfunctions. This category also includes Sports Acupuncture.

Traditional Acupuncture can only be practiced by Acupuncturists and they are trained to treat issues related to digestion, sleep, anxiety, fertility and much more!

How does it work?

Acupuncture has profound regulating effects on the nervous system. Stimulating it when needed, and sedating it when it’s over worked.

Immediate local effects at the site of needling include:
● The promotion of blood flow
● The regulation of nerves/nervous system
● The disruption of pain pathways
● The secretion of endorphins
