Meet Jacob
Jacob earned his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto in 2018. During his training, he has worked in a variety of settings spanning from intensive care, orthopaedic and stroke rehabilitation, and outpatient community care. Following graduation, Jacob has continued to advance his clinical skills by becoming certified in acupuncture; completing multiple courses (and extensive self-study) in soft-tissue/trigger point release, athletic taping, and cupping therapy.
Jacob’s Physiotherapy philosophy is heavily geared towards empowering his patients with a thorough understanding of their impairments. His holistic assessment and treatment approach focuses on hands- on manual therapy, muscle tissue release/relaxation, targeted exercise prescription, and patient education. He has a special interest working with young athletes suffering from shoulder pain. His approach to the athletic rehabilitation is rooted in Stretch Therapy, acupuncture, cupping, targeted exercise prescription.
He spends an obnoxious amount of spare time playing Apex Legends on PC, and he aims to one day develop a framework that applies his physiotherapy knowledge to assist videogame content creators, streamers, and e-sport pro players prevent shoulder and low back pain.
“I think my favourite part of the job is fostering engagement through understanding. Seeing someone’s face light up when it all clicks; the sets and reps start to make more sense. I just feel like it’s the purest way to motivate someone – like, that’s true healing.”
