Meet Dr. Uravi Shah
Dr. Uravi Shah is our health and fitness driven Chiropractor with a special interest in headache management. She graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2012 and continues to expand her knowledge through her experiences as well as additional training courses. In addition to chiropractic, she is also certified in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University.
While in university, she started to experience severe migraines several times per week. Other than strong medication, she was not presented with any other options to help her manage her condition. It was imperative for her that she learn how manage these headaches as it affected her ability to attend school, study and perform her regular day to day activities. It was only after she began to receive chiropractic care, which she sought out based on her own research that her migraines started to decrease in frequency and intensity. As she was already a student on kinesiology with a particular interest in human movement and how it effects function that she decided to pursue a career in chiropractic.
Being diagnosed with early degeneration in her cervical spine, she understands first-hand the symptoms that can occur with conditions of degeneration, arthritis and their associated symptoms such as muscle weakness, neuromuscular deficiencies, limitations in range of motion, nerve-induced pain, and headaches. Headaches are complex and typically tend to have a variety of contributors. Dr. Shah, not only treats the neuromuscular contributors but also helps her patients identify other lifestyle factors that may be contributing to their problems such as diet, sleep, and stress amongst others.
Dr. Shah not only addresses the area of complaint but also examines other structures in the body that may be contributing to the dysfunction. Many times, our injuries are complex and while the pain might be in one specific area, there may be many different contributors to the issue. There may also be lifestyle factors which need to be addressed and corrected as well such as work posture or stress. Our bodies are complex, but we only have one and it is important to take care of it in every regard.
